Learning to teach is an ongoing process, which is why it is important to me to ensure that I am engaging in personal development. There’s always more to learn about teaching. Sometimes this is a new concept or strategy. Other times it’s a topic that I've heard about and want to learn in more depth. And sometimes it’s a topic that I’ve thought about before but it’s helpful to repeat, like thinking about inclusive teaching.

I know that engaging in professional development is essential for me to continue to grow as a teacher. These experiences give me the opportunity to think about my teaching and learn strategies to improve. They also provided a space to talk about teaching with faculty in other departments. Continuing to seek out opportunities for professional development helps me  learn new strategies or revisit some that I’ve heard about before. It is essential for keeping up  with the changing conditions of teaching.

Below is a summary of my professional development experiences.
